PostHeaderIcon With the 21st pick.......

The Cincinnati Bengals select _________ ! That's right, we're less than 4 weeks away and most people aren't even 50 % sure of who or what position the Bengals are going to pick. I for one and happy, for once the Bengals don't really have any position that is so weak that it must be addressed with a 1st round pick. You could make an argument that TE is that position, but the Bengals haven't used a TE much in the past and alot of people want to see what Chase Coffman can do. I am pumped for this draft just due to the fact the Bengals could go any number of different ways, so someone of their liking is going to be there and it should be a good if not great value pick. Safety, Wide Receiver, Tight End, Defensive End, Defensive Tackle, Outside Linebacker, Guard any of these positions an argument could be made for and almost all of them would be adding depth not looking for a starter.

I'd say Safety is the position wanted by more of Bengals Nation than any other position. I'm included in that group and here's why. If the Bengals continue winning and picking low in this draft there may not be another elite group of 1st round Safeties like this one for a long time. This is a defensive position and giving Brat a new weapon is useless. The defensive coaches develop players atleast 2 times better than the offensive coaches do, so until Brat gets the axe I'm skeptical to blow a 1st round pick on someone he'll never develop or use correctly. Another reason is I think Safety is gonna become a position that's more and more important in the NFL. With the way the league is turning into a pass happy league with more and more teams airing it out all the time, Safeties that can cover are going to become a premium and that would make Earl Thomas, Eric Berry, and Nate Allen all hot commodities in this draft. The Bengals schedule this year includes alot of those teams that spread it out and throw the ball all over the field. So this team better be able to defend the pass this year or we're looking at a sub .500 finish. So as excited as I am about all the different options the Bengals have drafting this year, if I'm making the call With the 21st pick the Bengals select Earl Thomas, Safety from the University of Texas!
