A Look Ahead
Obviously we don't know what the needs are going to be after this season. That being said after this 2010 season Chad will only have a 1 year club option left on his contract and he'll also be 33 years old. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Bengals target their future number 1 WR in the 1st round. It'd be a good year to take a WR as the position is absolutely loaded, with 5 players as of now that have 1st round grades and I could easily see 2 more developing into 1st rounders by season's end. Not only that, but I think all 5 can be legit number 1 WR's in the NFL. This easily could be the most loaded WR class in the history of the NFL. Right now I have 4 players at the position with top 15 grades. Does that mean 4 will go in the top 15, no. But those quality players will drop later into the 1st round which is hopefully where the Bengals will be picking and they could land one of those top 15 talents.
The defensive line positions are also stacked, both DE and DT. That could work to the Bengals advantage as Tank is basically on a year to year contract and can be cut at anytime. If he can't get over his injuries that could be the case. At DE I wouldn't be suprised if this is the last year of Geathers being a Bengal, especially if Carlos Dunlap produces. Or maybe Odom is never the same after the Achilles injury. They have 2 young players full of potential, but on passing downs they could move Dunlap inside, hopefully with Geno Atkins who's a good pass rusher. That could leave Micheal Johnson and an open spot for clear cut passing downs. I think the Bengals are trying to build a D line ala the Giants 2007 Super Bowl winning team. They are close and another early round pick at DT or DE could give them a line just as good.
Runningback is also a pretty deep pool of talent in next year's draft. Benson is on his last year of his contract and the Bengals may not be willing to resign a 28 year old RB to a big contract. Especially if he has a 350 plus season of carries. I think players like Evan Royster,Ryan Williams, or Mark Ingram fit the bell cow type of back the Bengals are looking for. There are also speed backs with pass catching skills such as Noel Divine, but with Bernard Scott in house I doubt they'd go that route.
Basically other than Safety next year's draft will be setting up perfectly for the Bengals projected needs at this point. The positions they are already strong and deep such as LB and the O line are the weaker position groups in the 2011 draft class, so as long as they can stay deep and healthy at those positions they'll be in good shape. Teams that have needs there next year will have to jump on those positions early to fill their need and you could see many reaches. That could cause top talents at WR,RB,or the D line to slide some. So it's possible top 10 talents will be available at all of those positions towards the later part of the 1st round. Also you could see 1st round talents slide to the 2nd and so on. Just like this year we could see the Bengals land 2 1st round talent players.

2011 Mock Draft
1. Rams: Julio Jones,WR,Alabama
With the acquisition of Bradford in this draft they need to get him some weapons. Next year's class is expected to be loaded at the WR position.
2. Lions: Patrick Peterson,CB,LSU
The Lions have some peices in place on the D line, now they need to sure up their secondary. If they can get the top corner next year their D will have a bright future to go with an offense that already looks to have a bright future.
3. Buccaneers: Mark Ingram,RB,Alabama
Ingram may be the highest graded player coming out next year. The Bucs have a stable of backs but none are elite like this guy could be.
4. Redskins: AJ Green,WR,Georgia
After this coming season, McNabb will be begging Shanahan to get him some receivers. The best one he has now is Cooley.
5. Chiefs: Micheal Floyd,WR,Notre Dame
With Haley loving to throw the ball I figured he push for an early round WR this year. After they realize you need more than just Bowe to have an effective passing game they should next year.
6. Seahawks: Jake Locker,QB,Washington
The Seahawks had an excellent draft this year. If Whitehurst and Hasselback aren't working for Carroll they could go with the local QB who happens to be the number 1 QB.
7. Browns: Johnathon Baldwin,WR,Pittsburgh
The Browns took Taylor Price this year who could be a good number 2. Baldwin is a WR that has great size and could be a legit number 1 WR.
8. Patriots: Joseph Barksdale,OT,LSU
The Pats will be in a position to get a top OT thanks to the Raiders. Their O line is getting old expect them to trade in for a younger model.
9. Bills: Gabe Carimi,OT,Wisconsin
The Bills took CJ Spiller and really need to get him some blocking as OT was one of their biggest needs this year and they failed to address it.
10. Jaguars: Marvin Austin,DT,North Carolina
This could end up being a bit of a reach but I doubt that matters after the full round they reached this year. Plus Austin is more of a run stuffer vs Alualu who's more of a 3-4 end or 4-3 penetrator.
11. Bears: Mike Pouncey,OG/OC,Florida
The Bears had no picks in the 1st or 2nd this year. Their run blocking was terrible last season and they really did nothing to improve it.
12. Dolphins: Noel Divine,RB,West Virginia
The Dolphins have been shopping Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams is getting old. They failed to adress the position in this year's draft and Divine is an explosive player that will be a good complimentary back. Parcells likes to use multiple backs so he doesn't need a bell cow.
13. Panthers: Kyle Rudolph,TE,Notre Dame
The Panthers have 2 young QB's on their team after drafting Clausen. A young QB's best friend is a TE that can catch.
14. Broncos: Cameron Heyward,DT/DE,Ohio State
Heyward would be too good of value to pass up at this point, especially for a team that can use someone at DE in a 3-4. Heyward is one of those players that will fit either style defense.
15. Giants: Travis Lewis,LB,Oklahoma
I felt like the Giants needed an upgrade at all 3 LB spots and really didn't get one. Look for them to take one early in a relatively weak LB class next year.
16. Titans: Prince Amukamara,CB,Nebraska
This should be a no brainer if he's still on the board. The Titans need another CB in a pass happy league and this would be tremendous value.
17. 49ers: Rashad Carmicheal,CB,Virginia Tech
The 49ers had an excellent draft, but I felt like another CB needed to be added early. I still think they're the team to beat in the West and doubt they'll be picking here.
18. Steelers: Andrew Luck,QB,Stanford
I will not be suprised to see Ben Rapistburger traded before the season. But if he isn't the Steelers may take an insurance policy incase Big Ben strikes again.
19. Falcons: Greg Romeus,DE,Pittsburgh
Romeus could end up a top 5 pick next year, but if he is around when the Falcons pick they should nab him up. Anderson is a bust and they should've gone DE early this year, they got unlucky with 2 going right before they picked.
20. Texans: Allen Bailey,DT,Miami
This would also be a steal with Bailey this late. I felt the Texans had a good draft and did get some DT help, but more with an upgrade would make that D line one of the best in the NFL.
21. Bengals: DeAndre McDaniel,FS,Clemson
The Bengals failed to adress Safety in this years draft. They better pray they don't have any injuries to Williams or Crocker. I think next year if the value is there Safety will likely be the 1st round pick.
22. Patriots: Ryan Williams,RB,Virginia Tech
The Patriots failed to adress RB in the draft. That's suprising as RB was a big time need, I think Faulk retires after this season and the Pats improve their running game with an OT and RB in the 1st round.
23. Packers: Janoris Jenkins,CB,Florida
I thought the Packers would take an early CB with 2 aging starters at the position and 1 coming off ACL surgery. Jenkins could end up being the top CB next year he's very similiar to Haden.
24. Eagles: Ras I Dowling,CB,Virginia
The Eagles moved Sheldon Brown and while they did get some secondary help in this years draft they still have a plus 30 starter and I believe they'll try to trade or cut him after this season.
25. Ravens: Curtis Brown,CB,Texas
The Ravens have mediocre players at CB and didn't take one in the early rounds this year. Brown will fit their BPA draft philosophy as well as a need.
26. Cardinals: Von Miller,OLB/DE,Texas A&M
The Cards got a steal in Dan Williams at NT. They are set on the line, if they get some good pass rushers they could have an excellent defense.
27. Cowboys: Clint Boling,OT,Georgia
The Cowboys also got a steal in Dez Bryant. They need some depth on the O line after releasing Flozell Adams. Although they're set with starters if someone goes down this year they could be in trouble.
28. Chargers: Adrian Clayborn,DE,Iowa
Clayborn can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. The Chargers traded away quite a few picks to move up and get Ryan Matthews, which left them unable to spend any early picks on a D line that needs upgraded. They did land Cam Thomas in the 5th for NT which was a steal.
29. Jets: Stefen Wisniewski,OC/OG,Penn State
The Jets recently released Alan Faneca. They landed Jon Asamoah, but Wisniewski would be an upgrade over an already good player and provides versatility on the interior line.
30. Vikings: Ryan Mallet,QB,Arkansas
Maybe this will be Favre's last season. No one knows but the Vikings need to get a QB to start grooming behind him.
31. Colts: Mark Barron,FS,Alabama
Bob Sanders is injured all the time. Barron would fit the Colts BPA draft philosophy plus fill what will likely be a need next year.
32. Saints: Rahim Moore,FS,UCLA
Darren Sharper may not re sign with the Saints this year. Even if he does he's pretty old and is likely going to be on his last contract before retiring.
Draft Thoughts
I love the TE pick! I always have wanted to see what Carson can do with a legitimate threat at the Tight End spot. Look at all the top QB's in the league and they all have something in common, that is they all have at minimum a viable option at TE. Manning-Clark,Rivers-Gates,Brady had Watson now has Gronkowski, Rodgers-Finley,Brees-Shockey,Rothlisburger-Miller,Flacco-Heap. You get the picture.
I also like what the Bengals are doing on the defensive line. A few years ago the Giants upset the Patriots in the Super Bowl. This win was against the most explosive offense in league history. How did they do it? They had a dominant defensive line that had an 8 man rotation, keeping them fresh not only for the game, but the entire season. That line was the biggest reason they won the Super Bowl, well that and David Tyree having a pass stick to his helmet. Now the Bengals aren't on that level yet, but they should have an excellent group of 8 or 9 players on the line, with 6 of them having good ability to get a pass rush. Also most of those players have the versatility to play anywhere on the line.
The main thing about the draft is they didn't take a Safety anywhere in the draft. Marvin Lewis said they have the depth in house. He also said that about Cook when people wanted an early Center drafted and Cook has turned out to be very good, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The only thing is Reshad Jones and Kendrick Lewis were both available in the 5th round and they opted to take an offensive lineman that may have gone undrafted. Jones was projected to go in the 2nd or 3rd round. I don't know if they plan on moving Trent to Safety or what the plan is but they better have something legit as both the starters are over 30 and have had durability issues in the past few seasons.
Overall I think atleast 7 of these 9 draftees are going to make the 53 man roster. Which means some veterans should be worried because quite a few are going to be cut. For the first time in forever the Bengals are going to have to cut some good players just because the other options are better and not because of trouble. It's unlikely Frostee Rucker is going to make this team unless they keep 10 on the D line. We know Odom,Geathers,Dunlap,Micheal Johnson,Fanene,Peko,Tank Johnson,Sims, and Atkins are all going to make the team and that makes 9 right there. Orien Harris' days are numbered in Cincinnati.
If either of the offensive lineman stick then someone who is good is going to be out. It'll be one of these players Roland,Livings,Luigs, or Collins. All of those are good players, especially for backups and 1 or 2 could be gone if 1 or 2 of the rookies stick. I doubt they make the 53 man roster, and both will be projects that go on the Practice Squad. The same is going to go for WR as there's alot of talent there and there's going to be some fighting for the last 2 roster spots between Briscoe,Cosby,Simpson,Purify, and Matt Jones. Dont forget about the undrafted players they sign as well, of all those players only 2 spots are available.
It's like that across the entire team now and that makes your team better as a whole. I believe you're only as strong as your backups in the NFL with all the injuries that take place. The Bengals should have some very good backups and depth across the roster. The only position I'm worried about is Safety now, but Lewis says it's covered and if that's the case we should be making a return trip to the post season this year.

Draft Review
1st Round: Jermaine Gresham,TE,Oklahoma
This was the pick most people had mocked for the Bengals, as did I up until the last week or so. The pick makes complete sense, were the Bengals going to let Carson Palmer go through his entire career without getting him a good TE. Gresham has some durability issues, but he is reported to have a clean bill of health. If he can stay on the field, he could end up being a steal at 21.
He is going to be a match up nightmare for opposing defenses. His size and route running ability will make Safeties and Linebackers unable to cover him with single coverage. With the Bengals good running game teams are basically going to have to pick their poison. They can choose to only put 7 in the box, but Ced ran it on 8 man fronts last season very well, he would dominate 7 man fronts. Now with Chad and Antonio Bryant on the outside if teams decide to double Chad they basically are gonna leave Gresham over the middle with single coverage against either a Safety or Linebacker which he should win that matchup every time.
I'm excited about this pick, the Bengals now have a red zone target that is big. They will be able to control the middle of the field, and if teams decide to take away Gresham they're gonna leave Chad and Antonio with single coverage which spells defeat for any defense.
2nd Round: Carlos Dunlap,DE,Florida
Right after the season many mock drafts had Carlos Dunlap going in the 1st round. He definitely has 1st round talent, but also has some motor questions, and effort questions. If Zimmer and Lewis can get the best out of him, which I suspect they will, then this could end up being another steal for the Bengals. Dunlap has major talent to get after the QB, and has great size and length for his position. If he works hard and "gets it" he could end up taking over the starting spot for Geathers by the time the season is ending.
The added pass rusher is just what the doctor ordered as Odom is coming off an Achilles injury and the Bengals have a schedule with many pass happy teams on it. If Odom can stay healthy, he and Dunlap could play inside on passing downs with Micheal Johnson and Geathers on the outside. That could provide one hell of a pass rush and with the Corners the Bengals have it could be really tough to throw the ball on them.
3rd Round: Jordan Shipley,WR,Texas
I loved this pick! Shipley didn't run the best 40, but I like what he said that he plays alot faster in football speed, which I agree with. Chad didn't have a good 40 time coming out of college. Shipley is a playmaker who shows up big time in big games. Look at the National Championship game, his starting QB was out and he was still basically uncoverable against a team that had 2 early round CB's picked, including one in the 1st round. Kareem Jackson was unable to cover Shipley, as was Arenas.
Shipley gets the Welker comparisons, which are legit. He has that ability to stop and cut on a dime, and can change directions very well. Carson will love having Shipley in the slot, and I expect him to win the 3rd WR role over Caldwell going into week 1. This guy is simpley a playmaker and those are what the Bengals need on offense. Shipley also has the ability to go deep, but I suspect he won't be asked to very often as they have Chad and Antonio on the outside for that.
3rd Round: Brandon Ghee,CB,Wake Forest
Ghee had a 2nd round grade on him and was invited to the draft in NYC. Most mocks had him going in the 2nd round. Even though he only had 1 pick in 33 games, he's a good cover man that had plenty of pass breakups. He is compared to Joseph with his speed, which was the fastest of any CB at the Combine.
I believe Ghee will win the 3rd CB spot or nickel whatever you want to call it. This was an excellent pick, especially considering the pass happy schedule the Bengals face this year. If Dunlap can play up to his potential, the Bengals could have a very good pass rush with 3 good cover corners. This would make Trent a 4th corner, he was decent as a 3rd and would be an excellent 4th CB. I know people think this pick is also insurance in case J Jo or Hall don't get resigned, well the Bengals better get them re signed. You need 3 good CB's in this day in the NFL, that should be their top priority.
4th Round: Geno Atkins,DT,Georgia
Another great value pick. Mocks had him going in the 2nd and early 3rd round. Another penetrating defensive lineman, he doesn't have great length but he is quick and can get after the QB from the inside. This gives the Bengals a great 4 man rotation at the DT position.
I love what the Bengals are doing on the D line! A few years ago the Giants won a Super Bowl, primarily because they had a great 8 man rotation on the D line and the Patriots best offense in history couldn't do much against them. The Bengals D line isn't to that level yet, but with Atkins and Dunlap added they will have 8 very good D lineman with some good versatility out of quite a few of them. I don't know how many D lineman the Bengals are going to keep, but I suspect Frostee Rucker has played his last play as a Bengal. If they keep 9 I'd think it will be: Odom,Geathers,M. Johnson,Dunlap,Atkins,Sims,Peko,Tank, and Fanene. That's a very good D line that has unbelievable depth.
4th Round: Rodrick Muckelroy,LB,Texas
Another player from a big time school. I like these picks that come from schools that win alot of games. These players know how to win and have played in big games against big time competition.
Muckelroy was a middle LB at Texas, but also played on the outside. My guess is they are going to put him as SAM and groom him to take over for Rey when Dhani leaves/retires and Maualuga moves to the inside. For now he'll be able to be a big time contributor on special teams and gives the Bengals added depth at LB. If he is put at WILL he will compete immediately for the backup job with Brandon Johnson.
5th Round: Otis Hudson,OT/OG,Eastern Illinois
I honestly don't know much about this player other than he went to Minnesota where they had him playing on both sides of the ball, he then transferred to Eastern Illinois. I don't really understand this pick as alot of people think he could've been had as an undrafted free agent. I think 7th round atleast. Reshad Jones was on the board at this point, honestly I didn't like this pick and have to question what they were thinking making it, bad decision.
6th Round: Dezmon Briscoe,WR,Kansas
This however is a great value pick. Quite a few people had Briscoe graded as a 3rd round pick. He holds multiple receiving records at Kansas and was a very productive player in the Big 12. Most had him as the 2nd best WR in that conference behind Dez Bryant.
This pick gives the Bengals a ton of depth at WR now. Briscoe is going to have to fight for a roster spot, but I think he makes the team. I think we've seen the last of Jerome Simpson and unless Matt Jones shows up big time in the preseason and training camp I think he gets cut. I think the Bengals keep 6 WR's and they will be Chad,Antonio,Shipley,Caldwell,Briscoe, and Cosby.
7th Round: Reggie Stephens,Iowa State,OC/OG
I don't know much about him either, but in the 7th round I like the pick of adding an interior lineman. I'm a believer in taking and acquiring as much depth on the line on both sides of the ball as you possibly can. If anything he becomes a PS player and pushes the other guys to get better to keep their jobs. You can never have too many good lineman and I like that the Bengals drafted 4 lineman total in this draft, 5 if you want to count Gresham who's a part time lineman on running downs.
2 Days left
Enter Demaryius Thomas, he's 6-3, 220 pounds, and runs a 40 in the 4.3's, which is rediculous for someone that size. He also has good hands to go with all of that. His route running isn't great but it can be refined. He should still be productive just based on speed and athleticism alone, DeSean Jackson was as he didn't run good routes and Thomas is just as fast and bigger. He can do everything, go over the middle, be a vertical threat, and be a big target in the red zone. He reminds me of a faster version of TO without the baggage. By the way he averaged 25 yards a catch last season on 46 catches. That's a quarter of the field every time he caught the ball.
Here's a scouting report on him:
Strengths:
- Size, he's basically a smaller version of a TE at the WR position.
- Speed, he's deceptively fast with his long strides and can run away from defensive backs.
- Hands, he has strong hands and usually anything that's catchable he makes the catch.
- He has excellent leaping ability, times his jumps well, and likely will be able to go up higher than any CB or Safety.
- Catches the ball very well in traffic, part of that is because of his leaping.
- He knows how to use his size to shield defenders from the ball.
- He's so strong he can easily beat press coverage by basically throwing the CB to the side.
- Due to his size he's very tough to tackle, especially for smaller defensive backs. He is a weapon in the quick WR screen as he can break a tackle and be gone.
- He is an excellent blocker and that's something that is important to the Bengals coaches.
- He had good production in college, despite being in an option offense at Georgia Tech that runs the ball all the time. He averaged 25 yards a catch which is rediculous
Weaknesses:
- His route running is very green due to the offense he was in at Georgia Tech.
- He doesn't make moves to make people miss, but he does break tackles.
- He does have concentration lapses occasionally and has some drops, but he was a WR in an offense that ran, ran, and ran some more.
- He runs too straight up, needs to get pad level down some.
- On underneath routes he doesn't get good seperation. But that's likely due to never learning to run routes and he can use his big body to shield defenders so he hasn't needed to get seperation.
He has all the physical tools to be an elite WR in the NFL. He is raw in talent, but would be a good pick for the Bengals as he wouldn't have to come right in and be a primary WR. He could be the number 3 guy getting him favorable matchups against nickel corners or safeties. The more I watch tape on this guy the more I want his name to be called for the 21st pick. Lets face it our offense lacked weapons in the passing game last season. Antonio Bryant likely will be an upgrade over Coles, but will he be the entire answer. I doubt it, but adding Thomas as a 3rd WR would give the Bengals one of the best trios of WR's in the NFL and the offense could suddenly become explosive once again. Add that with a good running game and a number 4 defense that's returning all 11 starters and you have the makings of a possible Super Bowl run.
Mock Draft ( 3 days until draft)
Nothing has changed here, I will be shocked if Bradford is not the pick. St. Louis has used top 5 picks on D lineman a few years in a row and they need a franchise QB.
2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh,DT,Nebraska
Suh has been the number 1 player on the big board the entire offseason. With 3 days to go that's not gonna change. Jim Schwartz was a D line coach and will opt to take the elite DT, not an O lineman.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy,DT,Oklahoma
The Bucs will take one of the 2 DT's, whichever one is left. Suh is the better fit in Detroit so McCoy will go to the Bucs, where he's the better fit with his quick penetrating style in the cover two.
4. Washington Redskins: Trent Williams,OT,Oklahoma
The Redskins are doing everything they can to trade this pick, saying they will take a QB here. Not with McNabb signing. As far as Williams he's the better fit in Shanahan's zone blocking scheme.
5. Kansas City Chiefs: Russell Okung,OT,Oklahoma State
With the Redskins taking the player that fits their system it leaves the top Tackle on the board, making this a no brainer for the Chiefs.
6. Seattle Seahawks: CJ Spiller,RB,Clemson
This pick is the wildcard in the top 10. Seattle could go a number of different ways, but I think Carroll is used to having a stable of Runningbacks and now he has no one, that'll change with their first pick.
7. Cleveland Browns: Eric Berry,FS,Tennessee
The Browns are going to luck out and have Berry fall into their laps. This gives the AFC North 3 elite Safeties and the Browns a big time playmaker on their defense.
8. Oakland Raiders: Anthony Davis,OT,Rutgers
The Raiders are hard to predict as no one knows what crazy Al will do come draft day. My guess is OT as that position is a mess in Oakland.
9. Buffalo Bills: Jimmy Clausen,QB,Notre Dame
Someone could jump in front of Buffalo for Clausen, but if no one does Buffalo should take him. It's time to try to get a franchise QB and stop using stopgaps like Fitzpatrick. If Clausen doesn't go here it could be a long day for him.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan,DE,Georgia Tech
This is too good of value for the Jags to pass up. I know they're trying to trade back, but I doubt it happens as no one wants to pay top 10 money to a rookie. Morgan is a complete 3 down player who can rush the passer and play the run and is one of the safest picks in the draft at a position of high value.
11. Denver Broncos: Dez Bryant,WR,Oklahoma State
After the Marshall trade I don't see how the Broncos don't take Bryant. He's by far the best WR in this class and now they have no number 1. His character concerns should be a non issue as he really hasn't done anything.
12. Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams,DT,Tennessee
The Dolphins starting NT is in his mid 30's and suspended for the first 8 games. NT is the most important position in a 3-4 defense, which makes me think Parcells will take the best one in the draft over a Safety. Especially with the Jets in the division and the way they run the ball.
13. San Francisco 49ers: Bryan Bulaga,OT,Iowa
Some people are starting to drop Bulaga as the game tape against Michigan he got owned by Brandon Graham. That plus his short arms are a concern. But at 13 he's good value to play RT in an offense that Singletary wants to be a run first offense.
14. Seattle Seahawks: Charles Brown,OT,USC
Brown's stock is on the rise big time as he looks to be a legit LT in the NFL. He comes from USC which is where Carroll was and he'll bring one of his own guys in to block for Spiller and protect Whitehurst or Hasselback.
15. New York Giants: Rolando McClain,LB,Alabama
If McClain is available there's no way he's not the pick. Antonio Pierce is gone and McClain was a thumper and a leader on the top defense in college football last season.
16. Tennessee Titans: Jason Pierre-Paul,DE,South Florida
JPP may be the most physically gifted athlete in this draft besides Taylor Mays. He's the quickest prospect off the line in a decade. Though he's raw he'll be able to contribute on passing downs immediately.
17. San Francisco 49ers: Joe Haden,CB,Florida
Most people have Haden as the top corner and he may go earlier than this, but with all the depth at the position some teams may opt to wait on a corner causing Haden and some others to slide a little bit.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Kyle Wilson,CB,Boise State
Now the run on corners will begin with possibly 5 going in the first round. Wilson is my number 1 corner as I think he can play more physical than Haden and can cover just as well if not better. This is good value at a spot of big time need for Pittsburgh.
19. Atlanta Falcons: Sean Weatherspoon,LB,Missouri
The Falcons are really high on Weatherspoon to come in and play the Sam position next to Curtis Lofton. He'll be available and will form an outstanding duo at LB for Atlanta.
20. Houston Texans: Ryan Matthews,RB,Fresno State
The Texans take pride in their offense, which is the strong suit of their team. They need a power back to make it complete as Slaton is coming off neck surgery and isn't an every down back anyway. Matthews is the best bell cow prospect in the draft.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Earl Thomas,FS,Texas
That's right Bengals fans Earl Thomas is going to be available when the Bengals pick. Here's why his 40 time was on a super fast track which scouts are adding a full tenth of a second to his 40 time. The teams that could take him have bigger needs at other positions that are of higher value, Safeties fall every year. The Bengals will get a steal if he's available, he'll take care of that Centerfielder role in the secondary and be a turnover machine, especially with the freedom he'll have to roam with the 2 outstanding corners the Bengals have. I fully expect him to be available for the Bengals come Thursday evening and he will no doubt be the pick.
22. New England Patriots: Jermaine Gresham,TE,Oklahoma
This would be the Bengals pick if Thomas is gone. NE needs some weapons for Brady. Moss is declining, Welker is out for the beginning of the season, which means their best WR could be Julian Edelman.
23. Green Bay Packers: Mike Iupati,OG,Idaho
The Packers need help all over the line, with none of the Tackles available that have good value here they can go with one of the most dominating Guards in years. Rodgers has to get some protection, he won't last another season like last year.
24. Philadelphia Eagles: Kareem Jackson,CB,Alabama
The Eagles recently traded Sheldon Brown to the Browns, that opens up a spot at corner for them to upgrade and get younger.
25. Baltimore Ravens: Jared Odrick,DE/DT,Penn State
The Ravens lost a few players on the D line this year and if Odrick is available he's the kind of high motor D lineman Ozzie Newsome likes. Odrick will be an immediate upgrade at DE for the Ravens.
26. Arizona Cardinals: Sergio Kindle,LB/DE,Texas
Joey Porter is old and not the answer long term for Arizona to be their rush LB. Kindle can come in and compete with Porter for the starting spot immediately.
27. Dallas Cowboys: Taylor Mays,SS,USC
Jerry Jones loves taking big names and Mays is one of the biggest names out there. Dallas has a glaring hole at Safety making Mays the easy choice here.
28. San Diego Chargers: Terrance Cody,DT,Alabama
Cody has something that can't be taught and that is he is massive. He'll constantly command double teams and will immediately start at the most important position in a 3-4 defense.
29. New York Jets: Brandon Graham,LB/DE,Michigan
I think Kindle ends up going ahead of Graham just because of his size. At 29 Graham is a steal for the Jets and they'll be extremely happy to see him sitting there. If they're gonna get past the Colts they need to be able to pressure Manning.
30. Minnesota Vikings: Devin McCourtey,CB,Rutgers
I think atleast 4 CB's go in the 1st round. The Vikings are old and often injured at the position. They have to beat the Saints to get to the Super Bowl and they'll need corners to slow down Brees and that explosive passing game.
31. Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey,OC/OG,Florida
Pouncey will be great value here for a team that couldn't run the ball at all last season. Pouncey will start at Guard and take over Center for Saturday when he retires.
32. New Orleans Saints: Everson Griffen,DE,USC
Charles Rodgers is gone in New Orleans and it was time for an upgrade at the position anyway. If Ellis can get healthy they could form a lethal pass rushing duo from the interior and outside.
2nd Round
33. Rams: Demaryius Thomas,WR,Georgia Tech
With the Rams getting a new franchise QB they should focus most of this draft on finding him some weapons. Thomas averaged 25 yards a catch last season which is rediculous, and has the best size speed combination of any WR.
34. Lions: Roger Saffold,OT,Indiana
The Lions will be smart to take Suh and wait on a Tackle until round 2 as they'll still be able to get one with a first round grade. Safford will be able to step in and protect Stafford immediately.
35. Buccaneers: Golden Tate,WR,Notre Dame
The Bucs have needs at WR and CB, but Tate is the better value of any corner that is left by this point. They need some weapons for Freeman as their only good WR signed with the Bengals.
36. Chiefs: Linval Joseph,DT,East Carolina
Joseph's stock is on the rise big time and the Chiefs need a NT. They don't have a true NT on the roster and converted to a 3-4 last season.
37. Eagles: Nate Allen,FS,South Florida
After trading Dawkins last season the Eagles got no production out of the Safety position. Some rate Allen as the 3rd Safety in this draft as he's the complete package that can play the run and the pass.
38. Cleveland Browns: Colt McCoy,QB,Texas
There's talk of Cleveland moving up into the end of the 1st to take McCoy. I don't know why as he'll almost certainly still be available at this spot. McCoy will be a good fit in a west coast offense as he won't have to throw it deep very often.
39. Raiders: Patrick Robinson,CB,Florida State
I think the Raiders still may end up trading Nmandi Asomougha before the draft or during. Robinson has the kind of 40 time that Al Davis will love and will at minimum be an excellent number 2 Cornerback.
40. Chargers: Jahvid Best,RB,California
The Chargers have to get a RB early in this draft as Sproles isn't big enough to carry a full workload. Best isn't a huge powerback but will be a good addition to split carries 50/50 with Sproles. They may still add a bigger back later on.
41. Bills: Bruce Campbell,OT,Maryland
The Bills have to get a Tackle, especially if they take Jimmy Clausen. Campbell may be the most athletic OT in the draft and could be the best if developed properly.
42. Buccaneers: Chris Cook,CB/FS,Virginia
Ronde Barber is getting old and Cook has the ability to play FS until a spot opens at CB where the Bucs need an upgrade but have stayed loyal to Barber.
43. Broncos: Sean Lee,LB,Penn State
The Broncos need to get some LB's inside to compliment Elvis Dumerville. Sean Lee is coming off injury or may have been a 1st round pick.
44. Patriots: Jerry Hughes,LB/DE,TCU
The Patriots love taking the hybrid players in the 2nd round. They just told Adelius Thomas his role is changing to a run defender and they need players that can rush the QB.
45. Broncos: Jon Asamoah,OG,Illinois
The Broncos interior line was terrible last year. They have a 1st round RB on the roster and need to get some maulers in the run game in front of him.
46. Giants: Carlos Dunlap,DE,Florida
The Giants are trying to trade Usi Omenyiora which means they plan on taking a DE early in the draft. The Giants love drafting D lineman early and often.
47. Patriots: Arrelious Benn,WR,Illinois
Benn would be an excellent value pick in the middle of the 2nd round. The Pats need multiple weapons for Brady and Benn and Gresham would be an excellent start.
48. Panthers: Tim Tebow,QB,Florida
The Jags may trade up into the 2nd to grab Tebow, but if they don't I could see Carolina taking him here. He'd be given time to develop while Matt Moore plays and they'd have 2 promising QB's on the roster.
49. 49ers: Damian Williams,WR,USC
The Niners need to get someone across from Crabtree and Williams could turn into an excellent number 2 WR in the NFL.
50. Chiefs: Jason Worilds,OLB/DE,Virginia Tech
The Chiefs have needed help with their pass rush for years. Now that they're set with lineman they can get some players to come off the edge.
51. Texans: Brandon Ghee,CB,Wake Forest
The Texans let McCourtey walk in free agency and now have nothing at the CB position. They will have to land someone from this deep corner class in the first 2 rounds.
52. Steelers: Tyson Alualu,DE/DT,California
The Steelers have 3 players on the D line over 30 years old. Even though they took Hood in the 1st last year they need more depth at the position.
53. Patriots: Ben Tate,RB,Auburn
The Patriots need a RB, Maroney hasn't lived up to expectations and Faulk is on his last leg of his career. Tate can be a bell cow back.
54. Bengals: Rob Gronkowski,TE,Arizona
Although my philosophy is to take a lineman on either side of the ball in the first 2 rounds every year, if the draft falls like this it's how they have to go. This would fill their 2 biggest needs with the 2nd rated player at both positions. Gronkowski is the most complete TE in this draft as his blocking is very good which is important to the Bengals being a run first offense. Gronkowski would open up the outside by taking up defenders in the middle of the field. Although he catches the ball against his body he's still a big time playmaker and has been compared to Jason Witten. This would give the Bengals a complete offense, package that with the number 4 defense that just added Earl Thomas and you have to think there's a chance to go very deep in the playoffs if not all the way. These 2 picks would pretty much open up the rest of the draft to go any position they choose and take the best player available. They can do that anyway, but most assume they will have to get a Safety and TE fairly early.
55. Eagles: Koa Misi,OLB/DE,Utah
The Eagles pass rush really struggled last season. Part of that was probably due to Jim Johnson passing away, but they need some players who can come off the edge and rush the QB.
56. Packers: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah,CB,IUP
Akwasi is a small school product but runs an elite 40 time and has elite speed. Small school prospects have excelled at corner before. GB has 2 CB's over 30 with one coming off an ACL injury.
57. Ravens: Perrish Cox,CB,Oklahoma State
Look for a bunch of CB's to come off the board in the 2nd round. Cox was once considered the 2nd best CB in this draft and has some good play on his tape. The Ravens need upgrades at both CB spots and will join in on the deep class of CB's.
58. Cardinals: Eric Decker,WR,Minnesota
The Cards should look to replace Boldin to allow Breaston to stay in the slot where he's excelled. Decker will be a good number 2 possesion WR allowing Fitzgerald to go deep.
59. Cowboys: Dexter McCluster,WR/RB,Ole Miss
McCluster will be a good fit in Dallas as a slot WR and situational RB. He's a playmaker who's a threat to take it all the way at any time which Jerry Jones will love.
60. Seahawks: Morgan Burnett,FS/SS,Georgia Tech
The Seahawks are a mess in the secondary at every position and should take the best available player. Burnett can play both Safety positions which adds to his value.
61. Jets: Major Wright,SS,Florida
Kerry Rhodes got the boot after saying the Jets should scheme their defense around his abilities instead of him adapting. Wright will be an upgrade anyway and I think may have been a 1st round pick had he stayed in school one more year.
62. Vikings: John Jerry,OG,Ole Miss
The Vikings run blocking wasn't very good on the interior line last year. They wouldn't have done anything if their RB wasn't AP. Jerry is a mauler in the run game.
63. Colts: LaMarr Houston,DT,Texas
The Colts have struggled at DT for a few years now. Houston will be an asset against the run and will take some double teams away from Mathis and Freeney.
64. Saints: Brian Price,DT,UCLA
His stock has taken a fall big time. But the Saints could use a good DT next to Ellis, and Price added with Everson Griffen will give the Saints an excellent front 4 which is what they need to sit back in the cover 2 and still get to the QB.
3rd Round
65. Rams: Dorin Dickerson,TE/WR,Pittsburgh
Dickerson could be a major asset if put in the right system. The Rams could play him at TE/H back or split him out wide as a big number 2 WR. Add him with Thomas and you have 2 big weapons for your QB that have elite speed and a bright future on offense.
66. Lions: Brandon Spikes,LB,Florida
Larry Foote went back to the Steelers to take a back up role. Spikes will be a good addition with Suh to form a run stopping duo up the middle. They've been terrible against the run for years.
67. Buccaneers: Brandon LaFell,WR,LSU
The Bucs need more than one WR for Freeman as they have no one headed into the draft. After taking Tate they should get a bigger possesion type of WR, LaFell and Tate would be good compliments to each other.
68. Chiefs: Carlton Mitchell,WR,South Florida
Mitchell is a big WR with elite speed for his size, but he's still raw and needs developed. Haley loves throwing the ball and needs some weapons other than Bowe. Since the Chiefs are still in rebuilding mode this would be a good pick.
69. Raiders: Daryl Washington,LB,TCU
The Raiders have been good against the pass but not very good against the run the last couple of years. Washington could play inside or outside and is a good run stopper.
70. Eagles: JD Walton,OG/OC,Baylor
The Andrews experiment was a disaster last year for the Eagles. I don't know why anyone thinks either of those guys are good. Both should be arrested for stealing when they accept a paycheck. Their effort and productivity is a joke.
71. Browns: Ricky Sapp,OLB/DE,Clemson
The Browns need a rush linebacker with the trade of Kamerion Wimbley. Sapp would have been a late 1st/early 2nd round pick if he wasn't injured.
72. Bills: Cam Thomas,DT,North Carolina
The Bills get a steal here as NT's are hot commodities. I think they'll atleast be able to land Troup if Thomas is gone, but they have to get one of them as they're converting to a 3-4 and there's an unusual number of true NT's in this draft.
73. Dolphins: Reshad Jones,FS,Georgia
After taking Williams over Thomas the Dolphins get a very good consolation prize in Reshad Jones. He's a player that can play both the run and pass and will be an instant upgrade giving Miami a good young secondary with 2 second year corners.
74. Jaguars: Mardy Gilyard,WR,Cincinnati
The Jags are probably hoping to trade this pick for Tim Tebow, but they need a WR with them not bringing Holt back. Gilyard provides them a good slot guy and a good returner.
75. Bears: Vladimir Ducasse,OG,UMass
This is the Bears first pick. They just acquired Chester Taylor but it won't matter if they don't get better on the line, just ask Matt Forte who had nowhere to run last season.
76. Giants: Navarro Bowman,LB,Penn State
The Giants need someone at about every position in the front 7, and definitely all 3 LB spots. Bowman and McClain could be a lethal combo at LB.
77. Titans: Amari Spievey,CB,Iowa
The Titans pass defense was horrible last year. Part of that was not getting any pass rush and part because they didn't have a legit starting corner opposite of Cortland Finnegan. Even without a 2nd round pick they should be able to take advantage of this CB class.
78. Panthers: Anthony McCoy,TE,USC
The weed will not hurt McCoy as over half the Earth has smoked weed at some point in their lifetime. With 2 young QB's the Panthers will need a safety valve for them and someone to take some heat off Steve Smith.
79. 49ers: Chad Jones,SS,LSU
The Niners need upgrades all over the secondary. Adding Jones as Safety along with Haden at Cornerback will be a very good addition to an already solid defense.
80. Broncos: Alex Carrington,DE/DT,Arkansas State
The Broncos converted to a 3-4 last year but all their D lineman are better fits in a 4-3. Carrington is a perfect fit at DE in a 3-4 and has risen his stock big time during the Senior Bowl and Combine.
81. Texans: Dominique Franks,CB,Oklahoma
The Texans definitely need to take more than one player in the secondary, especially at corner. Franks is good value late in the 3rd as he's got a 2nd round grade, and the Texans now have 2 good young CB's which they'll need if they wanna beat the Colts ever.
82. Steelers: Jared Veldheer,OT,Hillsdale
The Steelers have needed upgrades on the line for a few years now. Plus Rooney stated that he wants to see them get back to smashmouth style football on offense. Their QB is gonna be suspended to start the season and they will need to be able to run the ball.
83. Falcons: Geno Atkins,DT,Georgia
The Falcons need to get some players that can get after the QB from the interior and off the edge. Especially if they plan on overtaking the Saints in the division.
84. Bengals: Mitch Petrus,OG,Arkansas
The Bengals need to land a Guard at some point in this draft. It doesn't necessarily have to be this early, but if Petrus is available he's good value at this point and fits their style of play. Petrus is a mauler in the run game that is strong as an ox. He did 44 reps of 225 lbs at the Combine which is amazing. He's not just a workout warrior though, his pass protection is also pretty good as he can use those strong arms to punch defenders knocking them back. Petrus could instantly compete for the starting LG position with Mathis and Livings and/or could take over the right side for Bobbie Williams when he decides to retire. At minimum this gives the Bengals great depth on the line, maybe the most depth in the NFL.
85. Browns: Andre Roberts,WR,The Citadel
The Browns may have the worst group of WR's in the NFL. They won't be able to address the position until this late if they want to get good value. Roberts was the best looking WR at the Senior Bowl.
86. Packers: Jerome Murphy,CB,South Florida
The Packers land the last of the CB's with a 2nd round grade late in the 3rd round. That shows how deep the position is as lots of corners were taken. Adding 2 CB's will give the Packers the best group of CB's in the NFL which will help them to try to overtake the Saints.
87. Eagles: Jamar Chaney,LB,Mississippi State
The Eagles need to get atleast 2 LB's fairly early one inside and one outside. Chaney can play inside and has great range and can cover as well as play the run. Anyone else tired of the Eagles picking all the time.
88. Cardinals: Dennis Pitta,TE,BYU
The Cards haven't really had a good receiving TE in years, they didn't need one with Fitz,Boldin, and Breaston. Now that Boldin is gone and a young QB will be starting they need to get a TE that can catch and Pitta is one of the best in this draft.
89. Cardinals: Torell Troup,DT,Central Florida
The Cards need an upgrade at NT or atleast some depth. Troup is the last of the big 5 NT's and is great value at the end of the 3rd round.
90. Cowboys: TJ Ward,FS,Oregon
The Cowboys got Mays to play SS and now take Ward to play the FS spot. That's alot of speed in the secondary and could make them very tough to throw on with the pass rushers they already have.
91. Chargers: Montario Hardesty,RB,Tennessee
Look for the Chargers to take a big power style RB in this draft. Hardesty,Best, and Sproles would be an excellent 3 headed monster in the backfield.
92. Browns: Taylor Price,WR,Ohio
The Browns will need to take more than one WR. Price can play on the outside and will be a good vertical threat that can stretch the field. With Massoquoi,Price, and Roberts they could have a good young trio of WR's.
93. Vikings: Mike Neal,DT,Purdue
The Williams's are getting old and the Vikings could use another DT to rotate in and keep them fresh. Neal could come in and give them some interior pressure on passing downs.
94. Colts: Corey Wooten,DE,Northwestern
The Colts need some depth at DE, look what happened when Freeney was out the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. Plus Mathis's contract is up after this season and this will give Polian leverage in negotiations.
95. Saints: Aaron Hernandez,TE,Florida
Hernandez can't block but the Saints throw the ball a lot anyway and Hernandez would give them a huge target and will be good depth behind the often injured Shockey.
96. Bengals: Jordan Shipley,WR,Texas
After going defense in the 1st round the Bengals use their next 3 picks on an offense that struggled in the passing game last year. Shipley would be a playmaker in the slot position and has been compared to Wes Welker. I'm not sold on Caldwell or anyone else they have behind Chad and Antonio Bryant. If Matt Jones ends up being a pleasant suprise and plays to his potential then the Bengals are all of a sudden loaded at WR. Which is a good thing having a QB of Carson Palmer's caliber. If this happens it pushes Caldwell to the number 5 WR which will make him the best 5th WR in the NFL and possible trade bait. Chad,Bryant, and Shipley in the slot would be tough to defend, especially with Gronkowski at TE. Defenses wouldn't be able to stack the box against Ced and the run. They also wouldn't be able to double Chad or anyone for that matter. Excellent draft so far for the Bengals.
97. Titans: Al Woods,DT,LSU
After losing Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch in back to back years, plus Odom the year before that, the Titans need to retool their D line.
98. Falcons: Matt Tennant,OC,Boston College
The Falcons need some depth on the O line, especially at Center where their starter is in his mid 30's.
4th Round
99. Rams: Ed Dickson,TE,Oregon
Keep loading up on weapons for Bradford to throw the ball to. If I was a Rams fan and the draft goes like this I'd be very excited. Demaryius Thomas, Dorin Dickerson, and now Ed Dickson will give the Rams 3 big targets all with good to elite speed. Steven Jackson should also be happy about this as he no longer has to carry the entire team on his back and run it 30 times a game.
100. Lions: Dekoda Watson,OLB,Florida State
Watson has elite speed for a Will LB and will be able to help in the run game and against the pass. He needs to put on a little weight as at the Combine he was down to 220.
101. Buccaneers: Jermaine Cunningham,DE,Florida
The Bucs need someone on the end of the line to go with McCoy on the inside. They like to play that Tampa 2 and need to get pressure from their front 4 to be successful.
102. Chiefs: Toby Gerhart,RB,Stanford
The Chiefs need to get someone to get them the tough yard on 3rd and 1. I don't think Thomas Jones is that kind of back anymore and Charles is more of a speed guy.
103. Redskins: Mike Johnson,OG,Alabama
The Skins need alot of help on the O line. Johnson is a mauler in the run game, although his style isn't a great fit in a zone scheme, he does have some ability to get out on LB's and he's by far the best O lineman on the board.
104. Seahawks: Joe McKnight,RB,USC
Pete Carroll will try to get as many USC guys as he can in this draft that know his system. McKnight is good value here with big upside and a need as Spiller can't handle the entire load. Carroll is starting to build his stable of RB's again.
105. Eagles: Selvish Capers,OT,West Virginia
Andy Reid loves to draft offensive lineman and the Eagles need both a Tackle and Guard to replace the Andrews brothers, who are both scumbags.
106. Raiders: John Skelton,QB,Fordham
Skelton is the sleeper QB of this draft. He could end up being very good and I almost hope the Raiders don't take him and ruin his career. They have to get someone as Gradkowski is hurt and JaMarcus Russell is.....well you know, terrible.
107. Bills: Eric Norwood,DE/OLB,South Carolina
The Bills are switching to a 3-4 and need an edge pass rusher opposite Aaron Maybin. The Bills have some of the pieces in place to have a great defense.
108. Jaguars: Pat Angerer,LB,Iowa
Angerer is the kind of hard nosed, hard hitting Linebacker that Jack Del Rio will love. He is great value in the 4th round as alot of players are due to the depth in this draft.
109. Bears: Robert Johnson,FS,Utah
The Bears have 2 average Safeties that are holding out like they're all-pros. Johnson is good and could be the pick that shows atleast one of them the door.
110. Dolphins: Thaddeus Gibson,OLB/DE,Ohio State
I've seen Gibson mocked as high as the 1st round. My question is why, he wasn't that good at Ohio State and I'm a Buckeyes fan. He doesn't have exceptional measurables, he's a quality mid round prospect who can contribute with depth and on special teams.
111. Titans: Darrell Stuckey,FS,Kansas
Stuckey is another one of the good pass defending Safeties that will be available in the middle rounds due to the depth of the position. He'll be a good addition to a defense that struggled against the pass.
112. Panthers: Mike Williams,WR,Syracuse
Steve Smith recently said he wants another WR across from him. Williams is very talented but will drop due to charcter concerns, he quit his team at Syracuse. He could end up being a steal if he is on good behavior.
113. 49ers: Javier Arenas,CB,Alabama
The Niners still need players in the secondary even after taking Haden and Chad Jones. Arenas at minimum will be a good nickel corner and kick returner, and could develop into a solid 2nd CB.
114. Broncos: Tony Moeaki,TE,Iowa
The Broncos are actively trying to trade Scheffler. Moeaki is a better fit as he's a better blocker who can still catch the ball.
115. Giants: Perry Riley,LB,LSU
The Giants go from having no one at LB to having 3 potential stars at the position. Good draft for the Giants new defensive coordinator.
116. Steelers: Jonathon Dwyer,RB,Georgia Tech
Dwyer is one of those players I think could slide a full round or two lower than expected. He isn't fast and can't handle a full workload. But he's a steal here unfortunately as the hated Steelers land him.
117. Falcons: Jimmy Graham,TE,Miami
Graham has a ton of upside as a former basketball player who is 6-8. With Gonzalez there that's a great tutor as he was a converted basketball player that was raw when he came out and this would be a smart move for Atlanta, grooming a TE for the future.
118. Texans: D'Anthony Smith,DT,Louisiana Tech
Smith could be a sleeper pick as a small school guy. The Texans need an upgrade at DT and someone to take some heat off their 2 good DE's.
119. Patriots: Kyle Calloway,OT,Iowa
The Pats are starting to get a little old on the offensive line. The Pats draft for depth and the future and these rounds are where their championships are won.
120. Bengals: Austen Lane,DE,Murray State
We all know what happened when Odom went down last season, the pass rush disappeared for the most part. I'm always a fan of getting as many good lineman as you can. Lane is a good pass rusher with top end speed and good size. He's a real sleeper in this draft and could end up being like a Jared Allen who also came from a small school.
121. Eagles: Dan LeFevour,QB,Central Michigan
The Eagles shipped McNabb and and now need to get another QB to develop so they can ship Kolb out in a few years.
122. Packers: Tony Washington,OT,Albeline Christian
The Packers need to keep Aaron Rodgers from getting killed, this guy would've been an early pick had he not had sex with his sister.
123. Cardinals: Zane Beadles,OG,Utah
The Cards have a good RB in Beanie Wells, they need to get some lineman who are maulers in the run game. Beadles is versatile and could play Guard or Tackle.
124. Jets: Clay Harbour,TE,Missouri State
The Jets need some depth at TE, behind Dustin Keller they have nobody. Harbour has a similiar skill set to Jason Witten.
125. Cowboys: Myron Lewis,CB/FS,Vanderbilt
Terrance Newman is 32 years old, the Cowboys need some depth at corner and FS. Lewis is versatile enough to play both positions and could be groomed to take over for Newman.
126. Chargers: Jeff Owens,DE/DT,Georgia
He played 3 technique at Georgia but I think he'd be a better fit as a 5 technique in a 3-4. The Chargers are old and often injured on the D line.
127. Seahawks: Donovan Warren,CB,Michigan
Warren's horrible 40 time is going to cause him to fall big time on draft day. If he plays faster than that time he could be a steal as he has good technique and was productive at Michigan.
128. Vikings: AJ Edds,LB,Iowa
The Vikings had a ton of injuries at LB last season and lost a couple players this offseason. Look for them to add depth in the middle and later rounds.
129. Colts: Larry Asante,SS,Nebraska
Bob Sanders has only played in 8 games over the last 2 seasons. He is injury plagued and someone else has to be brought in.
130. Saints: Anthony Dixon,RB,Mississippi State
Mike Bell went to the Eagles, if Pierre Thomas goes down the only one left is Reggie Bush who can't be a bell cow back, enter Anthony Dixon a big bruising RB.
131. Bengals: Jonathon Crompton,QB,Tennessee
Some people are very high on Crompton, Ron Jaworski has him as his 2nd rated QB. I don't know about that, but I know I'm not very high on Jordan Palmer or JT O Sullivan and if Carson goes down they're in trouble. Crompton has good size and good arm strength and with the receivers the Bengals have both already on the roster and acquired from this draft any decent QB with a strong arm and above average accuracy should be able to perform fairly well.
