2011 Mock Draft
I know it's way too early to really be able to project any of these players, but everyone else on the web is doing it so I'll follow suit. This will go by this year's draft order. Also Juniors will be included even though not all will declare, alot of them will.
1. Rams: Julio Jones,WR,Alabama
With the acquisition of Bradford in this draft they need to get him some weapons. Next year's class is expected to be loaded at the WR position.
2. Lions: Patrick Peterson,CB,LSU
The Lions have some peices in place on the D line, now they need to sure up their secondary. If they can get the top corner next year their D will have a bright future to go with an offense that already looks to have a bright future.
3. Buccaneers: Mark Ingram,RB,Alabama
Ingram may be the highest graded player coming out next year. The Bucs have a stable of backs but none are elite like this guy could be.
4. Redskins: AJ Green,WR,Georgia
After this coming season, McNabb will be begging Shanahan to get him some receivers. The best one he has now is Cooley.
5. Chiefs: Micheal Floyd,WR,Notre Dame
With Haley loving to throw the ball I figured he push for an early round WR this year. After they realize you need more than just Bowe to have an effective passing game they should next year.
6. Seahawks: Jake Locker,QB,Washington
The Seahawks had an excellent draft this year. If Whitehurst and Hasselback aren't working for Carroll they could go with the local QB who happens to be the number 1 QB.
7. Browns: Johnathon Baldwin,WR,Pittsburgh
The Browns took Taylor Price this year who could be a good number 2. Baldwin is a WR that has great size and could be a legit number 1 WR.
8. Patriots: Joseph Barksdale,OT,LSU
The Pats will be in a position to get a top OT thanks to the Raiders. Their O line is getting old expect them to trade in for a younger model.
9. Bills: Gabe Carimi,OT,Wisconsin
The Bills took CJ Spiller and really need to get him some blocking as OT was one of their biggest needs this year and they failed to address it.
10. Jaguars: Marvin Austin,DT,North Carolina
This could end up being a bit of a reach but I doubt that matters after the full round they reached this year. Plus Austin is more of a run stuffer vs Alualu who's more of a 3-4 end or 4-3 penetrator.
11. Bears: Mike Pouncey,OG/OC,Florida
The Bears had no picks in the 1st or 2nd this year. Their run blocking was terrible last season and they really did nothing to improve it.
12. Dolphins: Noel Divine,RB,West Virginia
The Dolphins have been shopping Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams is getting old. They failed to adress the position in this year's draft and Divine is an explosive player that will be a good complimentary back. Parcells likes to use multiple backs so he doesn't need a bell cow.
13. Panthers: Kyle Rudolph,TE,Notre Dame
The Panthers have 2 young QB's on their team after drafting Clausen. A young QB's best friend is a TE that can catch.
14. Broncos: Cameron Heyward,DT/DE,Ohio State
Heyward would be too good of value to pass up at this point, especially for a team that can use someone at DE in a 3-4. Heyward is one of those players that will fit either style defense.
15. Giants: Travis Lewis,LB,Oklahoma
I felt like the Giants needed an upgrade at all 3 LB spots and really didn't get one. Look for them to take one early in a relatively weak LB class next year.
16. Titans: Prince Amukamara,CB,Nebraska
This should be a no brainer if he's still on the board. The Titans need another CB in a pass happy league and this would be tremendous value.
17. 49ers: Rashad Carmicheal,CB,Virginia Tech
The 49ers had an excellent draft, but I felt like another CB needed to be added early. I still think they're the team to beat in the West and doubt they'll be picking here.
18. Steelers: Andrew Luck,QB,Stanford
I will not be suprised to see Ben Rapistburger traded before the season. But if he isn't the Steelers may take an insurance policy incase Big Ben strikes again.
19. Falcons: Greg Romeus,DE,Pittsburgh
Romeus could end up a top 5 pick next year, but if he is around when the Falcons pick they should nab him up. Anderson is a bust and they should've gone DE early this year, they got unlucky with 2 going right before they picked.
20. Texans: Allen Bailey,DT,Miami
This would also be a steal with Bailey this late. I felt the Texans had a good draft and did get some DT help, but more with an upgrade would make that D line one of the best in the NFL.
21. Bengals: DeAndre McDaniel,FS,Clemson
The Bengals failed to adress Safety in this years draft. They better pray they don't have any injuries to Williams or Crocker. I think next year if the value is there Safety will likely be the 1st round pick.
22. Patriots: Ryan Williams,RB,Virginia Tech
The Patriots failed to adress RB in the draft. That's suprising as RB was a big time need, I think Faulk retires after this season and the Pats improve their running game with an OT and RB in the 1st round.
23. Packers: Janoris Jenkins,CB,Florida
I thought the Packers would take an early CB with 2 aging starters at the position and 1 coming off ACL surgery. Jenkins could end up being the top CB next year he's very similiar to Haden.
24. Eagles: Ras I Dowling,CB,Virginia
The Eagles moved Sheldon Brown and while they did get some secondary help in this years draft they still have a plus 30 starter and I believe they'll try to trade or cut him after this season.
25. Ravens: Curtis Brown,CB,Texas
The Ravens have mediocre players at CB and didn't take one in the early rounds this year. Brown will fit their BPA draft philosophy as well as a need.
26. Cardinals: Von Miller,OLB/DE,Texas A&M
The Cards got a steal in Dan Williams at NT. They are set on the line, if they get some good pass rushers they could have an excellent defense.
27. Cowboys: Clint Boling,OT,Georgia
The Cowboys also got a steal in Dez Bryant. They need some depth on the O line after releasing Flozell Adams. Although they're set with starters if someone goes down this year they could be in trouble.
28. Chargers: Adrian Clayborn,DE,Iowa
Clayborn can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. The Chargers traded away quite a few picks to move up and get Ryan Matthews, which left them unable to spend any early picks on a D line that needs upgraded. They did land Cam Thomas in the 5th for NT which was a steal.
29. Jets: Stefen Wisniewski,OC/OG,Penn State
The Jets recently released Alan Faneca. They landed Jon Asamoah, but Wisniewski would be an upgrade over an already good player and provides versatility on the interior line.
30. Vikings: Ryan Mallet,QB,Arkansas
Maybe this will be Favre's last season. No one knows but the Vikings need to get a QB to start grooming behind him.
31. Colts: Mark Barron,FS,Alabama
Bob Sanders is injured all the time. Barron would fit the Colts BPA draft philosophy plus fill what will likely be a need next year.
32. Saints: Rahim Moore,FS,UCLA
Darren Sharper may not re sign with the Saints this year. Even if he does he's pretty old and is likely going to be on his last contract before retiring.
1. Rams: Julio Jones,WR,Alabama
With the acquisition of Bradford in this draft they need to get him some weapons. Next year's class is expected to be loaded at the WR position.
