PostHeaderIcon Mock Draft (updated: 4/2/2010)

1st Round

1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford,Quarterback,Oklahoma

After Bradford had his outstanding pro day completing all but 1 of his passes I don't see anyone else being the pick here. The Rams need a franchise QB and have passed on one the last few years.

2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh,Defensive Tackle,Nebraska

Suh is the best player in the draft and Jim Schwartz is a former defensive line coach. He had Haynesworth in Tennessee and now he'll have Suh who's gonna be even better.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy,Defensive Tackle,Oklahoma

The Bucs will be happy as long as they land one of the two top defensive tackles, which looks like it will happen. Some have McCoy rated as the best player in the draft such as Scouts Inc. Either player will be a great pick McCoy or Suh.

4. Washington Redskins: Russell Okung,Offensive Tackle,Oklahoma State

There's been talk of the Redskins trying to trade up and get Bradford. I think that'd be a mistake, they should solidify their offensive line before bringing in a new QB, especially a rookie. Right now they have no viable players at Left Tackle.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Bryan Bulaga,Offensive Tackle,Iowa

The Chiefs GM, Scott Pioli likes to take positions of high value early in the draft, even if it means reaching. I don't think this is much of a reach, but Berry is still on the board. This pick makes sense though, it would allow Brandon Albert to move back to Guard and help protect their overpaid QB.

6. Seattle Seahawks: CJ Spiller,Runningback,Clemson

Spiller's stock has been rising as of late and NFL scouts really like him. I don't agree with RB's going in the top 10, but I think this is gonna be the pick. Seattle really doesn't have any good options in the backfield which will be a big change from the stable of RB's Carroll had at USC.

7. Cleveland Browns: Eric Berry,Safety,Tennessee

Unfortunately Bengals fans it looks like Berry is gonna fall to the Browns at 7. He's an elite player who has legitimate comparisons to Ed Reed. Berry is the 3rd rated player and is going to be excellent value for Cleveland.

8. Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell,Offensive Tackle,Maryland

Everyone knows this is going to be the pick. He had an outstanding combine and the Raiders like their "workout warriors". Although this is a reach I think it's gonna work out well for Oakland because Campbell has a good chance to turn into an elite player.

9. Buffalo Bills: Jimmy Clausen,Quarterback,Notre Dame

NFL Scouts are alot higher on Clausen than the media is, and I am. I don't think he can make all the throws due to his lack of arm strength and he's too arrogant to boot. Scouts know alot more than I do though so I see Clausen going in the top 10 and Buffalo is tired of beating around the bush with Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Earl Thomas,Safety,Texas

With Thomas having a blazing 40 time at his pro day and an excellent season at Texas last year the Jags will go back to the tape and Thomas's stock will look good to them. DE could also be the pick, but with Kampman in house I think they'll opt to upgrade in the secondary. When the Colts are in your division you have to have good players back there.

11. Denver Broncos: Rolando McClain,ILB,Alabama

Everyone expects McClain to fall because he's an ILB. But he's a leader and a playmaker. He'll be a punishing force inside in a 3-4 and would be a great fit for Denver.

12. Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams,DT,Tennessee

The Dolphins current NT is old and suspended for the first 8 games of the season. NT is a premium position in a 3-4 and Parcells will like the value this pick provides. They could opt to wait until the 2nd to grab a NT but why when you can get one that's a 3 down player and the best in the draft.

13. San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams,OT,Oklahoma

SF is in need of an upgrade at RT. Singletary wants to have a team that runs the ball well and stops the run, he's an old school guy which I like. Williams is a punishing run blocker that is great value at this spot.

14. Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Davis,OT,Rutgers

Right on que the offensive tackles are flying off the board. With Walter Jones gone a changing of the guard is in order, plus Spiller is gonna need someone to block for him. Winning starts up front and Pete Carroll knows this.

15. New York Giants: Derrick Morgan,DE,Georgia Tech

The Giants most pressing need is LB, but Morgan presents too much value at this spot to not be the pick. If Morgan slides I could see NY getting some trade offers as teams know the Giants need a LB and Tennessee would certainly take Morgan with the next pick.

16. Tennessee Titans: Jason Pierre-Paul,DE,South Florida

The Titans have done a great job developing D lineman over the years and this one has a tremendous amount of upside. He is raw as can be, but will atleast be able to be a pass rusher in year one, which is something the Titans desprately need.

17. San Francisco 49ers: Kyle Wilson,CB,Boise State

From what I've watched on tape Wilson looks like the better corner over Haden. He's a bit bigger, faster, and can cover just as well. I think NFL teams see this also and Wilson will be the first corner off the board.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Iupati,OG,Idaho

The Steelers run game has suffered since Alan Faneca left to go to the Jets. Rooney recently said he wants to get the Steelers back to smashmouth football and this is a good start. Iupati is the most dominant player over his position in the entire draft.

19. Atlanta Falcons: Sean Weatherspoon,OLB,Missouri

The Falcons could go several ways with this pick, but their goal has to be to draft to dethrone the Saints. They signed a good corner and need a player who can play the run and pass as the Saints do both well. Weatherspoon is that player and would instantly be an upgrade at OLB forming a good LB corps with Lofton on the inside.

20. Houston Texans: Joe Haden,CB,Florida

The Texans will be ecstatic if either Haden or Wilson is here. The pick could also be Ryan Matthews, but they have no one at corner and are in a division with the Colts. Haden would be the better value here as well.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Brandon Graham,DE,Michigan

Wow the Bengals will have a tough decision with Graham,Mays, and Bryant still on the board. I think Graham provides the best position value, Bryant may be the bigger talent but comes with some baggage. Mays has issues with coverage and the Bengals schedule is packed full of pass happy teams this year. Graham will provide the Bengals another pass rusher and may be the best one they have if he's the pick. He provides the versatility to line up at OLB and allow the Bengals to throw different looks at opposing offenses. He's a bit undersized but he plays with a motor that doesn't stop and is always in the backfield making plays, whether that is on the QB or a RB. I'm really impressed with his game tape, in the Iowa game he owned Bryan Bulaga who is going to be a top 10 pick this year. If Graham is available he'd be a great pick and Zimmer loves versatile players, especially ones that can get after the QB.

22. New England Patriots: Jermaine Gresham,TE,Oklahoma

Randy Moss is getting old and his skills are declining. Welker isn't going to be ready to start the season. That means Edelman could be their biggest receiving threat to start the season. That's not gonna cut it, look for the Pats to start restocking on offensive weapons in this draft.

23. Green Bay Packers: Charles Brown,OT,USC

Aaron Rodgers is a very good QB and could end up being elite. But the Pack has to do something to upgrade the line and keep him from taking a beating game after game. It's pretty sad watching him run for his life, especially with the stable of weapons they have on offense.

24. Philadelphia Eagles: Sergio Kindle,OLB,Texas

Kindle will be someone to upgrade the LB position and help out with their pass rush. The Eagles still like to blitz even post Jim Johnson and Kindle is very good at rushing the QB. He can also make tackles against the run. Or maybe they can just take another QB since that's the only position being talked about in Philly and it's only a matter of time before they run another good QB out of town.

25. Baltimore Ravens: Jared Odrick,DE/DT,Penn State

Odrick is one of the more underrated prospects in this draft. With all the depth at DT he tends to get overlooked but he won't by Newsome. He is a high motor player and will fit in real well at DE in the Ravens defense.

26. Arizona Cardinals: Taylor Mays,SS,USC

Rolle is gone and they're gonna need to retool at Safety. Mays can play the run as well as most LB's and he may have to with Porter assulting cops and getting DUI's. Rolle had blown coverages all the time so the fact Mays struggles in coverage won't matter to the Cards.

27. Dallas Cowboys: Dez Bryant,WR,Oklahoma State

That's right Bryant's recent Shananigans are going to cause him to slide all the way down to the 27th pick. He's an incredible talent but is also a loose cannon and not very smart. Saying forgetting his cleats has nothing to do with him playing football. Actually you wear cleats in football so they have everything to do with him playing football.

28. San Diego Chargers: Ryan Matthews,Runningback,Fresno State

SD has to get a RB early in this draft. Sproles can not shoulder an entire workload for a 16 game season and the post LT era is here in SD. Matthews and Sproles will give the Chargers a nice power and speed combo.

29. New York Jets: Golden Tate,WR,Notre Dame

Though Demaryius Thomas is the higher rated WR the Jets are ready to contend for a Super Bowl now and Tate will be someone that can come into the slot and contribute this year. The Jets have to provide Sanchez with some weapons and they can't be sold on Braylon Edwards.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Kareem Jackson,CB,Alabama

The Vikings are old and often injured at corner. Griffen and Winfield can not stay on the field for an entire season, if the Vikings want to take that next step and win the Super Bowl they need healthy starters at corner.

31. Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey,OG/OC,Florida

The Colts had nothing in terms of their running game last season. Had they been able to run the ball at all they likely would be picking 32nd instead of 31st. Pouncey is a dominating run blocker who can play both Guard and Center.

32. New Orleans Saints: Everson Griffen,DE,USC

Now that Charles Grant is gone in NO another pass rusher needs to be brought in. Price also could be the pick here but his horrible showing at the UCLA pro day likely drops him to the 2nd.

2nd Round

33. Rams: Demaryius Thomas,WR,Georgia Tech

The Rams need a WR that can make plays. Thomas has excellent potential and talent, but will take a year to reach his full potential. They won't be contending next year and Thomas and Bradford can go through their growing pains together.

34. Lions: Roger Saffold,OT,Indiana

There's debate in Detroit on Suh or Okung. I think an OT can be had in the 2nd alot closer to Okung's skills as a DT with Suh's skills. Saffold is rising up draft boards and has the talent to start in the NFL.

35. Buccaneers: Arrelious Benn,WR,Illinois

The Bucs lost Bryant to a better team and have to find some weapons for young QB Josh Freeman. Benn has great measurables and will be good if he works on catching the ball.

36. Chiefs: Jerry Hughes,OLB,TCU

The Chiefs haven't had a pass rush in a few years and with their recent switch to a 3-4 need some rush LB's. Hughes may be the best hybrid DE/LB in this draft other than Kindle, Graham is more of a DE than hybrid imo.

37. Eagles: Devin McCourtey,CB,Rutgers

After trading Sheldon Brown to Cleveland there is a hole at CB. Since the Eagles traded McNabb for this pick they're gonna get a 1st round talent at corner for a much better price. Although I like McNabb and feel he's been treated unfairly this has been a good offseason of acquiring picks for players they no longer wanted to begin with. They could draft themselves into a serious contender, possibly for years to come getting 2 solid players in the first 40 picks in a loaded draft.

38. Browns: Colt McCoy,QB,Texas

As the draft is approaching more and more buzz is going around about Colt McCoy. I orginally thought the Browns would be able to get him in the 3rd but no way if they want him it's gotta be here, and I think they do.

39. Raiders: Brian Price,DT,UCLA

True Price had a sloppy pro day and looked out of shape, but he's too much value to pass up here. He was pac 10 defensive player of the year and can play.

40. Chargers: Terrance Cody,DT,Alabama

The Chargers cut the only true NT they had and will be looking to upgrade with some young players. Cody is still massive even with the weight loss and can stuff the run as well as he does his face.

41. Bills: Cam Thomas,DT,North Carolina

Thomas is the next pure NT in the draft that comes off the board and Buffalo is transitioning to a 3-4. All 3-4 teams that are good on defense have a good NT.

42. Bucaneers: Carlos Dunlap,DE,Florida

They need to upgrade on both ends of the D line really. With this pick the Bucs could have the makings of a dominating D line for years, McCoy and Dunlap both are extremely talented and if both play up to their potential they could build a D like the 07 Giants that won a Super Bowl

43. Dolphins: Brandon LaFell,WR,LSU

Although I have Williams higher than LaFell I think the Dolphins would prefer the bigger WR. If they don't take Dez Bryant in the first they certainly have to take a WR here.

44. Patriots: Jahvid Best,RB,California

The Pats have needed a talented RB for quite some time. Faulk is old and Maroney isn't very good and has fumbling problems. Best is very talented and had a very good college career at Cal.

45. Broncos: Damian Williams,WR,USC

Can the Broncos trade Marshall who is a major headache for them. I think so and even if they don't they still need another WR. Williams would be a good match for Denver's QB's he's known for his underneath routes and all Denver's QB's can't throw it very far.

46. Giants: Jamar Chaney,ILB,Mississippi State

The Giants LB core is a mess. Antonio Pierce is gone and the Giants are going to have to completely restock all 3 spots. Derrick Morgan was too good for them to pass on in the 1st so it has to be in the 2nd and later for LB's.

47. Patriots: Jason Worilds,OLB,Virginia Tech

Worilds is a speed rusher and the Pats are in need of an upgrade off the edge. Belicheck loves to take those hybrid type players in the 2nd round and Worilds has excellent speed for his size.

48. Panthers: LaMarr Houston,DT,Texas

Houston is great value here and the Carolina is in need of players all across the D line. Houston is versatile enough to play every spot on the line.

49. 49ers: Nate Allen,FS,South Florida

Allen is the 4th rated Safety and will be great value if he ends up falling this far. The Niners pass defense was suspect at best last year and they need to upgrade all over the secondary.

50. Chiefs: Linval Joseph,DT,East Carolina

The Chiefs run a 3-4 and don't have a good NT which is a necessity of a 3-4. Joseph will provide them with that and they could have the makings of a good young defense with Hughes and Joseph added.

51. Texans: Ben Tate,RB,Auburn

The Texans are in need of a big powerful back. Slaton is coming off neck surgery and isn't able to handle an entire workload for a whole season.

52. Steelers: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah

The Steelers corners didn't play up to par last year and some bad teams beat them with the pass. Look for them to take a corner early in this draft and Owusu-Ansah has all the tools to be a good corner even if he's from a small school.

53. Patriots: Alex Carrington,DE/DT,Arkansas State

With their 3rd pick within 10 selections the Pats will upgrade at DE. Carrington provides defenses with an opportunity to play at DE and DT especially in a 4-3. The Pats run a 3-4 but like to mix it up.

54. Bengals: Morgan Burnett,FS,Georgia Tech

Burnett has great speed and can play the run and pass. He played a rover spot at Georgia Tech which is a mix of FS and SS. He is able to play both Safety positions which is something the Bengals will value. He had good production his first 2 seasons in college. Last year it was down some but I think that was due to opposing QB's throwing away from him. He's had an excellent post season putting good numbers up at the combine and having a good pro day at Georgia Tech.

55. Eagles: Jon Asomoah,OG,Illinois

The Eagles got burnt by the Andrews brothers. They should be charged with theft for collecting a paycheck that was flat out stealing. A replacement is in order.

56. Packers: Chris Cook,CB/FS,Virginia

The Packers currently have 2 good corners but both are on the wrong side of 30. Plus Harris is coming off an ACL injury, Ghee has had a good workout season to go along with his production at Wake Forest.

57. Ravens: Rob Gronkowski,TE,Arizona

Gronkowski would be a late first early second pick if it weren't for the concerns about his back. This will be good value if the Ravens land him here and they need to add more weapons for Flacco.

58. Cardinals: Aaron Hernandez,TE,Florida

After losing Boldin the Cards will need to add another receiving threat to their arsenal. They have been lacking a pass catching TE for years.

59. Cowboys: Reshad Jones,FS,Georgia

The Cowboys biggest need is a Safety. Jones can play against the run and the pass. After Dez Bryant fell to them in the 1st the Boys will opt to take a Safety in the 2nd. Most likely even if Bryant doesn't fall to them there won't be a Safety of good value in the 1st.

60. Seahawks: Tyson Alualu,DT,California

The Seahawks are in need of an upgrade pretty much everywhere on defense except linebacker. Carroll should be familiar with Alualu from coaching against him in the Pac 10.

61. Jets: Chad Jones,SS,LSU

After Rhodes got released he said the Jets failed to scheme around his talents. The Jets need an upgrade at Safety and hopefully Jones plays in the system and doesn't expect the system to be shaped around him.

62. Vikings: Geno Atkins,DT,Georgia

The Williamses are getting up there in age and Atkins can provide depth in case of injury and to keep guys fresh. He's also a better pass rusher than both and will be key on 3rd down plays.

63. Colts: Corey Wooten,DE,Northwestern

Depth along the line is always needed, look at the 2nd half of the Super Bowl when Freeney was unable to play. Plus Mathis only has one more year on his contract and Polian will have some leverage with an early DE taken.

64. Saints: Navarro Bowman,OLB,Penn State

Scott Fujita moved on to the Browns, Bowman is an upgrade over him anyway and is great value with the 64th pick. The Saints offense is explosive and some upgrades on D could land them back in the Super Bowl.

3rd Round

65. Rams: Brandon Ghee,CB,Wake Forest

The Rams are in need of about everything on defense except ILB. I think they'll give another year hoping one of those top 5 picks on the D line will develop and add some help in the secondary.

66. Lions: Carlton Mitchell,WR,South Florida

Matt Stafford could have a bright future as he's already shown flashes of being very good in his first season. They need to get him some more weapons though and someone to draw some attention away from Calvin Johnson.

67. Buccaneers: Patrick Robinson,CB,Florida State

With the 2 new lineman the Bucs have on defense, someone is gonna have to intercept all those bad passes caused by pressure on the QB. Seriously they have 4 picks in the first 67 and use 3 on D, a good move imo, defense wins championships.

68. Chiefs: Mardy Gilyard,WR,Cincinnati

Todd Haley is the kind of coach that would throw the ball every play if he could win doing it. Other than Bowe the Chiefs have zero legitimate receiving threats, but I don't think Pioli will reach just to get a WR earlier, Gilyard is good value here and is a playmaker.

69. Raiders: Amari Spievey,CB,Iowa

I think Nmandi Asomogha will end up being traded to Philly for McNabb. Even if that doesn't happen he may not like to be rumored to be traded and want out of Oakland.

70. Eagles: Vladimir Ducasse,OT,UMass

With 4 picks in the first 70 and a loaded draft the Eagles can totally transform their O line and Defense. Andy Reid loves his big jumbo offensive lineman, plus the Andrews experiment didn't really go as planned in Philly. A backup plan now needs to be put in place, Ducasse can play Guard or RT.

71. Browns: Koa Misi,OLB,Utah

Misi provides great value early in the 3rd as he could easily go in the 2nd. The Browns pass rush wasn't very good and Misi will be a major upgrade coming off the edge.

72. Bills: Brandon Spikes,ILB,Florida

Yeah Spikes had the bad 40 time, but he's got a lot of game film that says he's a good player. I think he'd fit in nicely in the Bills new 3-4 where the ILB's aren't required to go sideline to sideline.

73. Dolphins: Major Wright,FS,Florida

Wright is a player with alot of upside, had he stayed at Florida he may have been a 1st rounder next year. The Phins tried to sign Ryan Clark which tells you they need Safety help.

74. Jaguars: Tim Tebow,QB,Florida

Will Tebow last this long? Probably not, but the Jags will use this pick as part of a package to trade up and get him.

75. Bears: JD Walton,OG/OC,Baylor

The Bears run blocking was horrible last year which is why Forte owners in FF were finishing toward the bottom of their fantasy leagues. Walton is a very good interior lineman that is versatile on the inside.

76. Giants: Jermaine Cunningham,DE,Florida

The Giants like to draft D lineman early and often in drafts and this formula worked for them for a while. They've gotten away from that recently look for them to spend front 7 picks on defense a bunch in this draft.

77. Titans: Perrish Cox,CB,Oklahoma State

The Titans pass defense struggled big time last year, they don't have a 2nd round pick so look for them to go DE,CB with their first 2 picks. Cox could end up being a steal here, early in the post season some had him as the 2nd rated corner.

78. Panthers: Dexter McCluster,WR/RB/KR,Ole Miss

Steve Smith recently said he'd like a number 1 WR on the other side. Without a 1st round pick the Panthers aren't gonna find one in this draft but McCluster is an explosive player who is a threat to take it all the way at any time.

79. 49ers: John Jerry,OG,Ole Miss

Jerry is a mauler in the run game and Singletary want this team to have a philosophy of run first and stop the run on defense. If they add Trent Williams and Jerry to the right side of the line that's alot of beef over there to run behind. Frank Gore could be a happy man after this draft.

80. Broncos: Jonathon Dwyer,RB,Georgia Tech

Dwyer's stock plummeted from last year at this time until now. He would've gone in the 1st had he declared last year. He's not a full workload back but will be good to spell and share some of the load with Moreno.

81. Texans: Dominique Franks,CB,Oklahoma

Franks is good value here, and yes the Texans need to take 2 corners fairly early in this draft. They only had 1 decent CB last year and he left leaving them with zero.

82. Steelers: Torrell Troup,DT,Central Florida

Casey Hampton is getting up there in age and it's time for the Steelers to start grooming their next NT. They like to have players in the system a year or two before they start.

83. Falcons: Mike Neal,DT,Purdue

The Falcons need help across the entire line and Neal provides them with a pass rush and run stopping ablilty.

84. Bengals: Mitch Petrus,OG,Arkansas

The need for Guard is irrelevant to what happens with Bobbie Williams. Even when he resigns a Guard must still be added, he's 34 and on the last leg of his career. On the other side they had 2 players rotating in. I'd like to see them get someone who plays every down and get some stability and continuity on the line. Petrus was an ALL SEC player and the Bengals love their SEC offensive lineman and why not it's worked out pretty well for them so far.

85. Browns: Andre Roberts,WR,The Citadel

The Browns could possibly have the worst group of receivers in the entire NFL. The thing is they have so many other needs I don't see them getting one until the 3rd at the earliest. Roberts was the best looking WR during the Senior Bowl practice week.

86. Packers: Dekoda Watson,OLB,Florida State

The Pack could use another OLB especially one with the speed Watson has to play the weak side and cover slot WR's and TE's. Watson ran unbelievably fast 40 times but needs to add some weight, or lose some and play Safety.

87. Eagles: Daryl Washington,OLB,TCU

The Eagles still need an OLB on the weak side to go along with Kindle on the strong side. If they can get Washington this late they would have to consider this a great draft for value and their needs.

88. Cardinals: Jared Veldheer,OT,Hillsdale

Whoever ends up playing QB for Arizona is gonna need some protection. If it's Leinert you'd think he could be decent if he has time and Fitzgerald to throw to.

89. Cardinals: John Skelton,QB,Deleware

Is the same type of QB that Joe Flacco is and went to the same small school. I have a feeling the Cards aren't sold on Leinert or Anderson and want another option heading into camp.

90. Cowboys: Mike Johnson,OG,Alabama

Johnson was a beast for the National Champs last season and Dallas has a big need for a Guard, Johnson may also be the BPA at this point.

91. Chargers: Jerome Murphy,CB,South Florida

Cromartie and his mediocre play have been trade to the Jets. Murphy may not be as fast but is physical and could end up being just as good of a player.

92. Browns: Dorin Dickerson,TE/WR,Pittsburgh

At 220 lbs Dickerson ran a 4.40 forty so don't be suprised if the Raiders take him. If they don't though he could probably get immediate playing time at WR until he adds weight to play TE.

93. Vikings: Joe McKnight,RB,USC

They have to get someone to back up Peterson after Taylor got overpaid by the Bears and left town. McKnight will add a nice mix of speed to Peterson's power.

94. Colts: Javier Arenas,CB,Alabama

The Colts do an excellent job of taking corners in the middle rounds and developing them into NFL quality starters. Arenas can also return punts.

95. Saints: Darrell Stuckey,FS,Kansas

With Sharper being a free agent there's a hole at Safety for the Saints. Even if Sharper resigns they need to start grooming someone to start behind him.

96. Bengals: Anthony McCoy,TE,USC

The Bengals can't go into the season with the same people at TE that finished last season. No one knows what's going on with Coffman, is he going to get on the field this year? McCoy is an all around TE, someone with good blocking skills and someone who can catch the ball over the middle. He has the ability to stretch the middle of the field and can take some heat off Chad and Antonio Bryant on the outside.

97. Titans: Jacoby Ford,WR,Clemson

Britt looks like he's on his way to becoming a good WR, and with Washington on the other side they need someone in the slot. Ford has elite speed and is a home run threat.

98. Falcons: Austen Lane,DE,Murray State

The Falcons need someone on the edge that can provide a pass rush. I think they can officially call Anderson a bust, but I don't think they'll use a 1st round pick at DE because of all the money already tied up there.
